Network analysis
The effectiveness of a team depends
on the relationships between its members. Network analysis can be used to
identify interactions between team members, and to see how they
affect each other.
For example,
the diagram below
shows the patterns of trust in a sales team.
|
|
An arrow from A
to B means that A trusts B: but B may not necesarily trust A.
When A and B trust each other, we draw a red line, when the trust
is one way we draw a blue line. Joe trusts Ahmed, but Ahmed doesn't
trust Joe. The size of a node indicates how central each team member is in
this network. Joe, Sally, Johnny and Igor are rather detached, and if one
of these is the sales manager, this team is in trouble!
Perry is the central player,And
if Perry leaves, the team will fragment. |
